FANTASY BASEBALL GAMEPLAY
Procedure:
Initially, the players are expected to compile the statistics from individual teams. These are then graded in standards. The team having the best overall figures during the season finish is declared as the winner. Original Fantasy Baseball League, the Rotisserie generally uses these figures:-
- The total home runs.
- The batting average of the team.
- The total stolen bases.
- The number of runs clobbered.
- The total wins.
- The run average earned by the team.
- The ratio of the amount of walks and the hits to the innings.
These statistics are often referred to as “4x4” leagues (4 being the figures for hitting and 3 being the pitching stats). Majority of fantasy baseball leagues take the help of a “5x5” approach, in which both the runs and the strikeouts are added. There are leagues, who adopt “6x6” formats also. However, they don’t have a unanimous band of classes to use. Some altercations to the rule include small amount of innings pitched, and the minimum number of bats pitched. The teams which fail to reach the minimum limit are awarded the end place in their respective categories.
Miscellaneous:
Another method or procedure adopted by most fantasy baseball leagues is the surrogate head-to head system, in which each team has to compete against a single team every week. After the completion of the week, each team has to tally the wins and the losses. Generally, three ways of head-to-head leagues are found, which are as follows:-
- Head to Head Points: - For each team, the statistics are accumulated and the team with the maximum number of wins is declared to be the winner. Most of these leagues often take advantage of other statistical parameters be it quality statistics or be it outfield assists.
- Head to Head Rotisserie: - Teams performance in the individual categories determines the wins, ties and losses.
- Head to Head Single Win: - It is similar to Head to Head Rotisserie with the difference being that, the winner gets only one win as compared to win for every category of team wins.
More about Game Play:
In some cases, the round robin systems are used and in the end, the winner is the team with the most number of win-loss records. |
